Breaking Bias in Healthcare
BE MORE’s hour-long, self-paced digital course for healthcare workers to reduce unconscious bias, hone interpersonal skills, and build equity and belonging in healthcare.
BE MORE with Anu is driving equity and belonging through our science-backed, compassion-based courses that empower people to break bias, the root cause of racial and gender disparities in our society.
Watch this short video to get a sense of Breaking Bias in Healthcare.
For decades, scientists have identified bias in the clinical encounter as a root cause of health disparities as well as challenges to diversity, equity, and inclusion in healthcare professions. A cursory look at disparities from maternal mortality to cardiovascular health to the disproportionate impact of COVID-19 on communities of color reveals this persistent challenge.
We believe that most healthcare professionals can provide exceptional care to their patients, free of bias, once they understand what bias is — a learned habit of thought — and learn tools that build better habits.
Using our PRISM toolkit rooted in the science of neuroplasticity, we designed this course to equip healthcare professionals with science-backed, compassion-based skills to improve clinical outcomes, strengthen workplace interactions, and enhance personal wellbeing.
This course was developed with input from over 50 healthcare leaders at institutions like AAMC, AMWA, and Mount Sinai, and supported by the NCF, W.K. Kellogg Foundation, and the NYSHF.
Breaking Bias in Healthcare is designed specifically for professionals in or adjacent to the healthcare sectors. This includes physicians, residents, nurses, nurse practitioners, medical and nursing students, medical administrators, academics, social workers, therapists, case managers, funders, investors, and anyone who is interested in transforming bias in the delivery of healthcare and in the healthcare workplace.
Breaking Bias in Healthcare uses leading adult learning methodologies to provide an on-demand, interactive learning experience where you will:
