Unlock the consciousness shifts that move our communities from exclusion to inclusion.

Take the next step in your journey to propel inclusion in our world.

You already know that we're living through the 21st century Civil Rights movement as we speak. You already know that, years and decades from now, our descendants will read about this time in their history books.

You've been reading everything you can get your hands on to deepen your knowledge and make change in your communities -- work, home, school, faith institutions... you name it, you've brought this work.

But you can feel that there's a missing step on your way to learning to build a Beloved Community.

That's where Breaking Racial Bias comes in.

Breaking Racial Bias is our most comprehensive offering, and we've seen seismic shifts from people of all ages, genders, races, and walks of life after experiencing it.

If you know you're ready for the next step in your Breaking Bias journey, we'd love to support you.

Who is Breaking Racial Bias for?

Breaking Racial Bias is designed for anyone deeply committed to advancing racial equity and belonging. These learners are typically leaders (like community builders, managers, or movement conveners) who have already taken the first steps in their Breaking Bias journey, and want to approach this work through the lens of science, history, and mindfulness.

Why break racial bias?

Racial bias is a learned habit, and it keeps us from treating those around us with care and respect. You can experience it everywhere, from the behavior of the barista at your local cafe to the effects of facial recognition technology used by government officials. Racial bias affects every one of us, whether we realize it or not. Breaking racial bias improves interpersonal skills, deepens relationships, and helps us contribute to a more equitable world — where everyone belongs.

Our approach is backed by fifteen years of research in science, history, sociology and mindfulness.

What you’ll learn

By the end of Breaking Racial Bias, you'll learn to:

Testimonials

Keedra McNeill, MD

Kaiser Permanente

“This course provided an extensive background on the origins of race in America and how the systems which oppress came to be. Through this understanding, guided self reflection, and interactions with colleagues in the course, I feel as though I can continue the process of self learning to break my own biases and hopefully bring this learning to my institution as well.”

Mordy Walfish

About Breaking Bias

Imagine a world without bias. A world where all human beings can truly be just as they are and unleash their full potential. Take a moment to imagine how you feel in such a world—not what you think about it, or whether you believe it's possible, but how you feel.

This is the proposition that opens the bestselling Breaking Bias. It’s your invitation to embark on a journey that will radically change your experience and show you how you, in turn, can help reshape our world.

Blending ancient Buddhist wisdom with modern scientific evidence, Anu takes us on a deep-time journey to explore human identities and identity-based biases and to recognize that breaking bias is the key to unlocking multiple crises in our world—from racism, sexism, classism, and other -isms to burnout, loneliness, and climate change. Then he offers his signature PRISM toolkit—a science-backed, somatically informed set of contemplative tools—to help us dismantle learned bias within ourselves and in the world around us, moment by moment, with probing questions and writing prompts throughout the book that invite us to put these tools to use right from the start.
